Blog #86 – What are your tradeoffs to getting into shape?

Time, Energy, Emotional Tradeoffs

Tradeoffs exist in every aspect of our lives. We are constantly making tradeoffs as part of our decision making process.

“is a situational decision that involves diminishing or losing one quality, quantity, or property of a set or design in return for gains in other aspects. In simple terms, a tradeoff is where one thing increases, and another must decrease”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade-off

We often overlook this in our fitness journey. We want to have the result of being fit without actually putting any work in or very little work , or we want it now without waiting.

The tradeoffs and Payoffs for getting into shape:

  1. Time tradeoff
  • You will have to tradeoff time relaxing, watching tv, doing work, doing fake work, etc and instead workout.
  • Payoff – You will become a master scheduler. Prioritizing your 2,3 or 4 workout days per week. It’s best if you select the same days and times each week.

  1. Energy tradeoff
  • 80% of the time you’re going to feel tired and not want to exercise. YOU. DO. IT. ANYWAY.
  • Because STARTING your workout when you’re in a low energy, tired state is the REAL battle.
  • Payoff – You will become a master of your discipline. This is a muscle that you can train and the more opportunities you feel tired and workout despite of this the stronger it gets.

  1. Emotional tradeoff
  • Your less favorable sides of you may start to creep up, the inner critical voices of impatient, doubt, comparison we challenge you to see how serious you really are about your goal.
  • Payoff – You will become a master of your inner voices and learn to befriend them.

That is why it is a journey. Play the long game with your fitness journey and you will succeed. Remember:
